The fourth, yes the FOURTH iteration of the #LanaDelPod is available on itunes and at the link below for streaming and direct downloads, it’s a podcast that used to be really clever and be about Lana Del Rey but was really actually making fun of all the podcasts and tv shows and things that exist solely to talk about other tv shows or music artists or something, pop culture that was just commenting on OTHER pop culture, yknow? We were making fun of that! We were so smart! And now, it’s just two funny comedians (Joe McMahon and Samuel Priest!) and sometimes a guest (a comedian guest!) talking about their dads or their dicks or whatever… enjoy!!!
a small (outdated) history of the #LanaDelPod and #Podcastaways is the following… although I believe all the links are not working at this point.
LANA DEL POD – A Lana Del Rey Podcast with Joe & Sam

SUMMERTIME SADNESS – A Lana Del Rey Podcast with Joe & Sam
What is it?
Well, Summertime Sadness (Recently renamed to just “Lana Del Pod”) is a Lana Del Ray Podcast with 2 Chicago Comics, Joe Alden McMahon and Samuel Priest. It’s a free flowing conversational podcast that originally was made to be about Lana Del Rey and about the excitement we both had for her upcoming (at the time) album “Ultraviolence.”
So, in a way, it’s about Lana Del Rey. But we’re 2 Comedians, surely we don’t talk about Lana Del Rey all the time. Sometimes we talk about Ghost Fucking. As in, would you fuck a ghost? Also, in a way, we’re kind of holding up a mirror to how fragmented our pop culture content is becoming where a lot of “content” is just commenting on other content and isn’t that incestuous and weird and boring? We’re kind of being really smart and making savvy social commentary. But again, sometimes we also talk about Ghost Fucking.
Also, we’ve experimented with the format quite a lot in our short lifespan of a podcast, although our first 3 episodes involved Joe and Sam just sitting in Sam’s apartment talking, we’ve since had many “live” or “on location” episodes with guests and even “roundtable” Lana Del Rey discussions. Also, sometimes we listen to Lana Del Rey songs and judge them, sometimes we don’t.

Favorite Episodes that we could sample?
As of now, Summertime Sadness has less than 20 episodes, so it’s not too daunting to start from the beginning and catch up. But, if you wanted to try out a random one, all you have to know really is that Joe and Sam host the podcast, and it’s maybe kinda sorta about Lana Del Rey, but also about life. That basic format is followed in the first 3 episodes.
Episodes 4 and 5 were recorded on July 4th while Joe and Sam sat outside and tried to sell pairs of sunglasses to passersby. They feature Chicago comedian guests such as Katie McVay and Steven King. Part 1 Part 2
Episode 7 was our first “live” podcast that we tried recording outside of 4Treys bar during their tuesday open mic. It’s sort of an epic shit show, but there are Chicago comedian cameos aplenty including David Drake, Aaron Sutherland, and Marlena Rodriguez and you can find it HERE.
Episode 8 is a lot of fun as that’s the episode we talk extensively about Joe courting a demon. Episode 10 is our comedian roundtable with Greg Gettle, Bobby Budds, and Keegan Buckingham and things get deep quickly. This is also the first episode we listen to the entirety of “Summertime Sadness” Roundtable Episode Demonic Possession One
We took it on the road to Red Lobster for a special “Lobster Del Pod” and followed that up with a “Hodge Podge” episode covering some recent loose ends as well as the extra 45 minute food court discussion following Lobster Del Pod, which includes some startling news about the future of the Lana Del Pod.
If you’re ready for emotional rollercoasters, follow along with us from the Hodge Podge episode through “Wintertime Sadness” and “Pretty Crying.” Both of which tackle some emotional highs and lows. And suicide talk.
We try to refocus on Lana Del Rey with our special call in guest Humanities Prof. John Garity in our next episode to mixed success.
Sam and Joe try to come to grips with where they’re at before the holidays and before the new year, we also listen to TWO lana del tunes in the “Coming to Grips” episode. And then we also pick back up after the new year with updates and plenty of news and stories from Joe and Sam in “Love and Old Money.”
And our newest episode to date actually isn’t an episode of the Lana Del Pod, rather an episode of former call-in guest Humanities Professor John Garity as he has Joe as a special guest on HIS podcast, “Talkin’ Turkey.”
PODCASTAWAYS – A Podcast from 3 Guys Stuck on an Island
What is it?
It’s a podcast from 3 guys stuck on an island. Those three guys? Improv/Sketch comics Geno Alesandrini, Michael Shepherd Jordan, and Samuel Priest. Sometimes the episodes are free flowing and conversational, sometimes that conversation gets argumentative like with their most popular segment “Let’s Get Into It” when 2 seemingly somewhat opposite “things” are pitted against each other and the podcastaways have to choose and argue/yell sides. And sometimes the podcast becomes a bit of a sketch show, journeys or quests are taken, island creatures are met and interacted with, sometimes sound effects are used, and songs have been sung.
All episodes take place on the island. You can hear ocean sounds in the background so you know we’re not lying. Sometimes a crab or a pelican will come up and talk to us.

Favorite Episodes that we could sample?
Oh man, there are SOOOO many episodes. We’ve been doing this dumb project for over 2 years now and are gearing up for our home stretch to take us past 100 episodes and spoiler alert, possibly end…
But, on the episodes we’ve already put out, it’s our recollection, that although the first ten or so episodes have a certain rustic charm, we didn’t hit our stride until episodes 11-12-13 or so, and although it’s a super sized episode of sorts, our episode 13, the vision quest was one of our first forays into real weirdness.
That kicked off a nice little stretch of episodes with a classic number 14, a few mini episodes in 15, and our first christmas special which of course featured returning island character favorites singing Christmas carols.
There are too many highlights to mention from there, I’ll try to bounce back here at some point and link to the episodes we’ve had special guests and our extra special format breaking episodes.
